I am a musicologist and performer, currently based in Athens and Thessaloniki, Greece. I studied music at the Universities of Nottingham (MA, 2000) and London (PhD, 2004), was awarded the LRSM in Piano Performance with Distinction, and worked for a few years as a Research Associate and Visiting Lecturer at Royal Holloway, University of London, until my appointment at the Department of Music Studies, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2007. I am currently an Assistant Professor at A.U.TH., and teach classes on twentieth-century music history, experimental music, philosophy and aesthetics (see Teaching page).

My current research focuses on several aspects of historical and critical musicology, ranging from definitions and manifestations of musical spatiality to methodological and aesthetic issues pertaining to the study of experimental music and improvisation. Between 2003 and 2007 I was also Project Manager of the AHRC-funded project Chopin’s First Editions Online and phase I of the Online Chopin Variorum Edition, funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

As a musician, I am involved in several improvisation-related projects and initiatives, including the duo Acte Vide (with Giannis Kotsonis), and the large-scale, mixed-media collective  6daEXIt.  One-off and more regular collaborations in the last few years include Gerard Assayag, Christos Chondropoulos, Thanos Chrysakis, Michel Doneda, Ferran Fages, Fun with Nuns, Panagiotis Kanellopoulos, Grundik Kasyansky, Kostis Kilymis, Jonas Kocher, Harris Lambrakis, Dimitra Lazaridou-Chatzigoga,  Natassa Mare-Moumtzidou, Natryx, James O’Sullivan, Alexis Porfiriadis, Eddie Prevost, Andrew Raffo Dewar, Kostas Tatsakis, Sabu Toyozumi, Jerry Wigens and Jack Wright. I am also a member of Knot Performance Group, and have worked with director Themelis Glynatsis on several theatre productions as an actress and vocal performer.
